about

Even though I was aware my marriage was on shaky ground for some time before the end, there was still an element of shock the day finally we decided to call it quits. It was challenging to hold the juxtaposition between the pain of loss, and the expansiveness that came from the newfound freedom of being single. Music remained a compass throughout my healing journey, and I trusted it to lead me to where I needed to be next.

lyrics

You said nothing about talking
even though I asked you for months
you just decided it up in your head
then you let me know it all at once
it hit me like a steam train I could see a mile away
But part of me was part relieved when I fell apart that day

Because
part of me was broken
part of me broke open
something in me froze then
And something else shook free
I packed up all those pieces
and went looking for relief
with a suitcase full of faith
and the music calling me

it's been more than a year now
in the desert on my own
I cut my hair, I bought new dresses
And I'm still learning to live alone
every now and then it calls my name
a memory reminds me that nothing is the same

As when
part of me was broken
part of me broke open
something in me froze then
And something else shook free
I packed up all those pieces
and went looking for relief
with a suitcase full of faith
and the music calling me

I wouldn't wish this on a friend or enemy
But I also know I wouldn’t wanna go
back to how it used to be
How I used to be

before
part of me was broken
part of me broke open
something in me froze then
something else shook free
I packed up all those pieces
and went looking for relief
with a suitcase full of faith
and the music calling me

because
part of me was broken
part of me broke open
something in me froze then
something else shook free
I packed up all those pieces
and went looking for relief
with a suitcase full of faith
and the music calling me

Got a suitcase full of faith
And the music’s calling me
