Time Steals 02:33
You’re uncertain if the wild fish whispers Or if it’s the river that is carrying the tune All you know is something's humming in your blood That makes you want to howl at the moon Going backwards through the years Erasing up the skin Falling weak and helpless again You can’t think of how you change it You just know how strange it feels And time he just steals and steals Maybe it’s having the flesh of an architect that makes you want to build to the sky Perhaps its the TickTock of the wrist watch That makes you want to break for it and not ask why Going backwards through the years Erasing up the skin Falling weak and helpless again You can’t think of how you change it You just know how strange it feels And time he just steals and steals Always all the earth has answers Though they may not be the ones you want to hear Open ears, open heart is the only way to start To dig yourself up out of the fear Going backwards through the years Erasing up the skin Falling weak and helpless again You can’t think of how you change it You just know how strange it feels And time he just steals and steals

Whole Again 02:58
If it takes 10 years to rebuild my skeleton I have about 6 more to get my bones back from you again It was only about 2, 3 weeks to rid you from my skin, my cheeks but my heart, my eyes, my brain, these are things that never change There's nowhere I can go to say "give me my money back" anyway, there's no refunds, no exchange in matters of the heart even with somebody new there's still little pieces of you that built me into who I am I just want to know when I'm gonna feel whole again I don't have the charts to navigate This emotional Magellan Strait Just a dream of the other side A peaceful sea and calmer tides There's nowhere I can go to say "give me my money back" anyway, there's no refunds, no exchange in matters of the heart even with somebody new there's still little pieces of you that built me into who I am I just want to know when I'm gonna feel whole again A new body, a new location searching for a final destination I know that's not how any of this works But I keep looking for ways not to feel the hurt There's nowhere I can go to say "give me my money back" anyway, there's no refunds, no exchange in matters of the heart even with somebody new there's still little pieces of you that built me into who I am I just want to know when I'm gonna feel whole again There's nowhere I can go to say "give me my money back" anyway, there's no refunds, no exchange in matters of the heart even with somebody new there's still little pieces of you that built me into who I am I just want to know when I'm gonna feel whole I just want to know when I'm gonna feel whole I just want to know when I'm gonna feel whole again

SOUND OF WINGS The sun is shining there's a flutter in the sky breeze in my hair I'm feeling kinda shy Can't quite put my finger on what's happening right now But your eyes have me locked in It's a hush It's the sound of wings It's a rush It's a thousand things It's my heart It's the start of something new I heard the sound of wings when I saw you The moon is rising Stars are coming into view Only hours ago was when I first saw you It was magnetic and I tremble when you come close Oh your eyes have me locked in It's a hush It's the sound of wings It's a rush It's a thousand things It's my heart It's the start of something new I heard the sound of wings when I saw you Miles between us marked with telephone wires Growing smaller with each spin of the tires It's a hush It's the sound of wings It's a rush It's a thousand things It's my heart It's the start of something new I heard the sound of wings when I saw you

I can see salt water slipping from your eyes I know the empty hollow in your bones Your stomach is home to a hundred butterflies Your chest is a cage full of stone Today your bed's a prison or maybe it's your mind and everything seems useless yet you're running out of time When you can't find the stars listen for the sound of my voice I will sing you home When you can't feel the ground beneath your feet Take my hand you are not alone, you are not alone you are not alone, you're not alone I've swum the underwater void, black and cold I've felt the devil's laughter grip my heart Been shaken so hard by the lies that I was told I thought that I might fall apart I have weathered the winters that never seemed to end Felt the world on my shoulders and didn't break but bent When you can't find the stars listen for the sound of my voice I will sing you home When you can't feel the ground beneath your feet Take my hand you are not alone, you are not alone you are not alone, you're not alone I have seen the clearest lakes from the peak of a mountain felt the sun on my face as I tossed coins in a fountain I've held a baby newly born I've grown food from seed joined voices with a choir taken care of those in need so When you can't find the stars listen for the sound of my voice I will sing you home When you can't feel the ground beneath your feet Take my hand you are not alone, you are not alone you are not alone, you're not alone you are not alone, you are not alone you are not alone, you're not alone

about

This is a small sampling of songs written in the past couple years to prompts given in an online songwriting group called Soulwriter University.

Most are GarageBand demos, both made to have fun in the moment of creating, and also intended as a possible guide for later studio production. In the wake of uncertainty during the COVID19 pandemic, I've decided to share them as is for now, in hopes of providing a sense of connection, in the moment, as we are.
